BENCHMARKING V PROSTREDÍ PRÍSPEVKOVEJ ORGANIZÁCIE
ABSTRACT:
Corporate managers do use benchmarking as a recognized tool in order to improve their business performance and competiveness. Benchmarking represents a determining tool aiming at (improving) changes; it compares continually and systematically. Benchmarking is inspired by the best ones. Benchmarking constitutes a tool of comparing and measuring the implementation of actions with comparable actions of selected best-practise organizations. The whole procedure intends for achieving information about deviations. By the help of identifying these deviations, the organisation is able to improve their performance. Contributory organisations could indeed profit from the utilization of benchmarking, but so far, it is not employed in the public sector.

THE QUESTIONS OF RENEWABLE SOLAR ENERGY USAGE WITHIN EUROPE THROUGH TWO IMPORTANT CASE FOR HOUSEHOLDS AND THE POSSIBILITIES OF ALTERNATIVE FUEL USE, AFFECTING THE INFRASTRUCTURE AND TAXATION FROM THE ASPECT OF CLEAN/GREEN ENVIRONMENT
ABSTRACT:
In the last few years, along the wide spread of solar-systems which are getting cheaper, like air-conditioning and the similar spread of hybrid and only/cleanly electric powered (e-)cars, arises the idea that any electric energy surplus produced by the solar system or extending it till the calculated level, could decrease the monthly budget of a household, while the expected return of the investment is significant. Beside auxiliary heating and electric car usage arises the problem of daily overproduction of electricity and the lack of storing it Europe-wide. Another aspect of renewable energy are the alternative fuels (e.g.: bio-ethanol, bio-diesel, bio-methanol) plus (e.g.) bio-gas instead natural gas and the conflict between EU directives in connection with sustainable development and national regulations of taxation where usually the excise-tax loss would affect mainly all nation’s balance of budget. In case of heating (natural-gas) the dependence from Russia and the existing centralized infrastructure are the key elements which shall be reconsidered if the clean and green economy/life is the objective.

APPLICATION OF PROPOSED METHODOLOGY TO PROVE EXPECTED BIDDING STRATEGY FOR SEALED BID AND ENGLISH REVERSE AUCTION
ABSTRACT:
In this paper the assumed sellers bidding strategy for two selected tender methods, a Sealed bid and an English reverse auction, is verified. The bidding strategy for each tender method is based on rational strategy of the sellers in each tender method. The assumption for the Sealed bid is that the sellers submit the best bid they can. The assumption for the English reverse auction is that the sellers submit an overvalued initial bid for the auction, which is higher than their best bid. The verification is based on the comparison of coefficient of variation between these two tender methods.

SYSTÉM MERANIA A HODNOTENIA VÝKONNOSTI Z POHĽADU MAKROEKONOMICKEJ ÚROVNE
ABSTRACT:
Performance at the macroeconomic level is determined by the results of the economy. Performance measurement and evaluation at the macroeconomic level can be described as the result of comparing the required and actual level of performance. In order to ensure the precision and stability of performance measurement and evaluation system, it is important to put emphasis on the system approach to it. New trends and approaches are related to the consistency and explicit definition of all attributes of macroeconomic indicators. The existence of different approaches to the creation of performance systems that are based on different perspectives on performance often do not take into account the definition of essential attributes of each performance indicator. The consistency in this case is based on the homogenous definition of all attributes relating to the performance indicator as a basic element of macroeconomic performance system.

ANALYSING GEOGRAPHIC PROXIMITY ON E-SALES SUCCESS: A CASE STUDY OF VATERA AUCTION PORTAL
ABSTRACT:
Many academic researchers examine interactions between offline and online spaces on the field of marketing. Despite this fact, only few of them are using geo-data to gain better understanding of physical distance and proximity in home selling process for higher selling success. Regional science, as an interdisciplinary field, can help extend our knowledge of electronic marketplaces, and is able to support the business sector to fully exploit selling potential. The aim of the paper is to demonstrate that physical distance has deep impact on selling success, not only for the traditional retail sector, but even in virtual space. In this case study, I examined locations of sellers and buyers of the leading Hungarian auction portal.

EFFECT OF TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF A HYPERMARKET ON THE SHOPPING BEHAVIOR - A HUNGARIAN EXAMPLE
ABSTRACT:
After 15-20 years in operation large area retail units must be generally refurbished. In this paper we want to introduce our new research findings on the changes of shopping behavior during a refurbishing period of a Hungarian Interspar hypermarket (located in county seat Tatabánya, Hungary, 60 km far from the capital in Western direction). In our research we want to describe how shopping behavior of Interspar shoppers changed in terms of shopping frequency, spendings, location of shopping, preferred retail unit, role of distance, assortment, prices, etc. We also introduce the reactions of local competitors in the altered market environment. Our research findings are based on an online questionnaire (N=153). The research was conducted in October 2017 when Interspar hypermarket (originally opened in 2001) was temporarily closed because of constructional works. We foremost focus on the marketing (shopping behavioral) and regional (spatial) aspects of the phenomenon. Our findings can help to understand the shopping behavior of people in time of turmoil of local retail supply (such as the closure of an important local retail unit) and can help the more efficient and effective work of retailers.

THE JANUARY EFFECT. THE BEHAVIOR OF SECTOR INDICES OF THE WARSAW STOCK EXCHANGE
ABSTRACT:
The hypothesis of the financial market information efficiency indicates immediate adjustment of instrument prices resulting from the availability of new information. However, there are examples of anomalies when information flowing from the market is not the only price-making factor. One of them is the January effect, as seen on the global stock exchange. In the present paper, the effect will be discussed in relation to the Warsaw Stock Exchange. As part of the survey, the sector indices of the stock exchange were compared cross-sectionally. Using the event study methodology, the January abnormal returns for the selected industry indices were calculated for each year between 2005 and 2017. The results of the study indicated the occurrence of a statistically significant January effect in the case of two indices: WIG-construction and WIG-IT.

THE ASSET CORRELATION ANALYSIS IN THE CONTEXT OF ECONOMIC CYCLE
ABSTRACT:
Probability of default represents an idiosyncratic element of bank risk profile and accounts for an inability of individual debtor to repay its credit obligation. Idiosyncratic risk however does not address any interaction or dependencies streaming from external economic environment, nor the correlation between individual obligors. Credit risk quantification framework accounts for a systematic element of the risk using a concept of asset correlations and joined probability of default. In this paper we focus on the evolution of asset correlations in time and its dependence on economic cycle while asset correlations are proxied by the pairwise stock returns correlations of publicly traded companies. Our analysis proves that a systematic risk is significantly higher in the period of economic downturn where correlations between obligors more than doubled. The analysis also provides a view of systematic risk and its sensitivity to economic cycle between various regions and economic sectors. These observations can be used by banking institutions in the bank risk management and stress testing framework setup.

INTANGIBLE DETERMINANTS OF FIRM PERFORMANCE: EVIDENCE FROM WESTERN AND NORTHEN EUROPE
ABSTRACT:
This paper empirically analyses selected intangible determinants of firm performance in firms of Western and Northern Europe. The main objective of this paper is to analyze the contribution of intangible assets, which became important competitive advantage and source of economic growth for the firms. We use three intangible determinants – the sum of intangible assets and goodwill from a balance sheet and R&D expenses, both scaled by total assets, and ROTA Rank Measure. We proved the statistically significant positive effect of R&D intensity on firm performance. We conclude that this indicator approximates intangible intensity in the best possible way.

FAKTORY OVPLYVŇUJÚCE OCHOTU JEDNOTLIVCOV DOBROVOĽNE PRISPIEVAŤ NA KOLEKTÍVNE STATKY
ABSTRACT:
Examining factors affecting individual behavior are potentially powerful tools that states, professionals and communities can use to address social issues (obesity, crime, environmental sustainability, etc.). The aim of the contribution is to identify factors influencing the willingness of individuals to voluntarily pay for public goods, and on the basis of the results of own economic experiment, to assess whether these factors lead to an increased willingness to voluntarily pay for public goods. We assume that there are factors that increase the rate of voluntary payment for public goods. This rate of voluntary payment depends on both internal factors (motives) and external factors (determinants).

ETICKÉ FORMY FINANCOVANIA MALÝCH A STREDNÝCH PODNIKOV
ABSTRACT:
The modern financial system that causes global crises requires introduction of new principles and tools to diversify the national financial markets. In this case, Islamic financial institutions that have proved not only their viability but also the least vulnerability to crisis are the effective alternative. In addition, Islamic financing is increasingly referred to as „ethical“, indicating a higher level of social responsibility in this field of study. The ethical principles the Islamic financing is based on are gaining greater support of non-Muslim population. On the other hand, small and medium-sized enterprises in the traditional sector are tired of working on loan repayment, lacking working capital, lacking finances for capital investment, they suffer from information asymmetry in contractual relationships with credit institutions. The ethical financing is their opportunity to enter a new stage of business development and have a reliable and honest partner in the form of a bank.

We all tell stories. We tell stories to our children, to our friends and acquaintances. We need stories. Intimate stories have universal effects, they connect and bridge the gap between the sender and the receiver. People share their stories on social network platforms and nowadays more and more advertisements reach us in the form of digital stories. One of the biggest storytellers is Coca-Cola Company. The study aims to highlight the most effectual elements of storytelling in Coca-Cola advertisements and it also compares these stories with traditional tales: their characters and storyline, and the role of time and space. It also demonstrates how the iconic drink serves as a signal in the story.

THE ROLE OF CITY TOURISM FOR REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT
ABSTRACT:
Cities become world’s greatest tourism destinations. Tourists take a certain part in statistics reports as they have a high impact on socio-economic figures of the city and the country in general. Whenever the city bodies try to involve more visitors, it leads to improvement of the city itself. As tourists’ preferences and expectations change, so do cities, with tourism triggering constant investment in infrastructure, promotion and conservation, benefiting tourists and local residents alike. Some cities develop more as they become tourist destination for some historical or unique heritage advantages. However, there are another type of tourism development, where the new city is built. It involves labor force for the construction of the city, then the local migrants and the different activities and events in the city makes it a main player of the tourism industry of the country. In this case the city gains not only for its own development, but also in a regional scale. This paper observes why cities are the important figure of tourism statistics. The study presents the case study of Astana city which is located in a flat step area, which has nothing to offer for tourists from the first look, however the statistical analysis and the research shows that the city built just a decade ago already plays a major role for a regional development.

MANAŽMENT VZDELÁVANIA ĽUDSKÝCH ZDROJOV V MALOM A STREDNOM PODNIKU
ABSTRACT:
Business plan as a specific internal document, which serves as the basis for the proper management of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in the education of employees, however, the external application of the business plan is also important if the SME / program partially or wholly by means of foreign capital, or it is seeking some kind of non-repayable support. In this case, it is necessary to convince the providers of capital of the advantage and prosperity of the project for which the capital is to be used. We can, for example, receive non-repayable financial contributions from the euro-funds. The Slovak Republic is prepared to use this option to ensure the sustainable growth of the economy, to raise the standard of living and employment. Meeting these criteria will also be a tool to reduce regional disparities. Strategic human resource development to the provision of opportunities for learning, development and training to improve the performance of the individual, team and organization and the main goal is to establish a framework for developing people. Create an environment encouraging learning process and staff development. Activities of human resources at first will include traditional educational programs, but much more emphasis will be given on the development of intellectual capital, promotion and enforcement of corporate, team and individual learning and education.

VÝVOJ LIKVIDITY STROJÁRSKYCH PODNIKOV V SLOVENSKEJ REPUBLIKE
ABSTRACT:
In the interest of Slovak companies to compete on the domestic and foreign markets in conditions of increasing competition, increasing demands for quality and speed of responses and dynamically developing markets, the latest knowledge, methods and methods of corporate governance need to be used. The company’s success in the market determines to a very limited extent the intensity with which new management methods, improved approaches and methods of analysis, innovative organizational structures and information systems are introduced and applied. As a result of the increased sensitivity of the industry, there is an urgent need to adapt to and respond to the most rapid and best changes in the environment by applying appropriate management techniques to ensure the ultimate success of the business. The basic prerequisite for the success of the company, as well as its existence on the market in the short and long term, is the fulfillment of predetermined goals. The main objectives of each business entity include profit making, maintaining and increasing the market value of the business, long-term ability to self-finance and, at the same time, securing short-term liquidity. Failure to achieve one of the objectives may compromise the stability and the ability of the company to pay. It is worth pointing out that an enterprise can at the same time make a profit while having problems with the payment of its obligations. This means that the development of profit and liquidity may be diametrically different. Liquidity is one of the indicators showing the company financial situation.

MERANIE A HODNOTENIE VÝKONNOSTI VO VEREJNÝCH SLUŽBÁCH NA PRÍKLADE VZDELÁVANIA
ABSTRACT:
Nowadays, public service organizations are under great pressure to document their activities in an objective and measurable way. In this context, the options for the application of performance management are also open to public sector institutions providing public services. The quality issue of individual schools is often discussed topic and the subject of various studies. In the following years, key changes should be implemented in the schools themselves, but there is of course necessary to create such preconditions, conditions and mechanisms of influence on schools coming from outside, so that schools themselves could, wanted and knew to transform from within. The purpose of the scientific study is to test the potential uses of Value for Money on the example of secondary education in a selected self-governing region in Slovakia.

PODNIKOVÁ DIAGNOSTIKA A JEJ VYUŽITIE V PROCESE ZNALECKÉHO STANOVOVANIA VŠH PODNIKU
ABSTRACT:
In determining the business general value, an expert encounters a number of problems he has to deal with. Many times, experts have to choose between varieties of solutions and often need to obtain sufficient information with their own experience, estimates or knowledge gained through practice. This requires continuous improvement, advancement and application of new approaches, creating space for further scientific exploration and application of new theoretical knowledge and methods into experts practice. Therefore, in this paper, we have decided to demonstrate the utility of business diagnostics in the field of expertise, in order to determine the business general value. The use of enterprise diagnostics can be one of the core skills of experts in Economics and Management (particularly in the Controlling sector).
